There are some simple, cheap but extremely useful tools that can make gardening easy and full of fun. Gardening is a great hobby because it is probably the only hobby that lets you contribute to nature. You can transform the whole space around and make it green and beautiful by investing just an hour daily to your garden. However, it is not just the efforts but also the right tools that you need to be a good gardener. One of the most essential tools in gardening is the mist sprayer pump. It is actually a multipurpose tool that not only helps you in gardening but in home cleaning as well. Let us look at the various applications of these small sprayers that make them so useful at home and gardening.

1. Spraying Insecticides and Pesticides: One of the primary functions of the mist sprayers is to keep your plants safe from the harmful insects. Larger insects usually eat away the leaves and hamper the growth of the plant. However, the more troubling are the very small pests that can be in the group of hundreds or even thousands. Once they settle on to any single plant, they can quickly spread to all other plants in your garden. But as long as you have a sprayer and a good insecticide, you do not need to worry about them. All plastic trigger sprayers are small, compact and light-weighted. Fill in your sprayer pump with water with a few drops of insecticide or pesticide to keep these little devils away.

2. Feeding Liquid Fertilisers: There have been significant improvements in the agricultural practices and they have also helped the garden enthusiasts. Traditionally, all the fertilisers and chemicals were released into the soil from where the roots would take them to each and every part of the plant. Modern fertilisers are usually liquid fertilisers as they supply nutrition directly to each and every part of the plant. Liquid fertilisers are meant to be sprayed directly on the surface of the plant. It would have been impossible without these wonderful mist sprayer pumps. These fertilisers work faster and most importantly ensure that most of the fertiliser is absorbed by the plants.

A Closer Look at the components and functioning of Screw Lotion Pumps

Screw lotion pump also known as the twist lotion pump have revolutionized the design of lotion dispensers. We often tend to ignore these small technological changes around us in designs that have simplified our lives beyond imagination. If you are still wondering what exactly we are talking about, look at your moisturizer bottle or the handwash dispenser. Yes, that is exactly what we call a screw lotion pump. Just push the nozzle down and it spits the lotion out, simple isn’t it? It may look simple and small but it contains numerous small components.

1. Actuator: Every lotion pump has a head on the top that you need to press to get the lotion out. It may appear to be different in different lotion pumps because of the design but the internal structure remains the same. It has a lock to prevent accidental output.

2. Closure: It is the basically the base of the neck that has screws on the inside and smooth outer surface. The actuator is initially locked into this closure with the help of screws.

3. Outer Gasket: The gasket is fitted on the inside of the closure to provide friction when to the actuator. This prevents the actuator from slipping in or out suddenly. It is usually made out of rubber.

4. Housing: The pump assembly in contained in the hollow plastic component known as housing. It also acts the intermediate chamber where the lotion is first sucked and then pushed out through the actuator.

5. Interior Components of the Housing: The heart of the twist lotion pump lies in the set of components contained inside the housing. It consists of spring, piston, stem and a ball. Some advanced pumps such as long nozzle liquid pump can have a few more components for better functioning.

6. Dip Tube: It is a normal tube that carries the lotion from the bottle up into the chamber. It is a long tube that is connected to the base of the housing and reaches down to the base of the bottle.

The complete action of the twist lotion pumps is based on the principle of creating a vacuum or low pressure to pull the lotion against gravity into the chamber and ultimately spitting it out. When we push the top, the spring is compressed creating an upward air pressure. It pulls the ball along with the lotion upwards to make everything work perfectly.
